Pernites will present at the seventh annual Robert & Lillis Kingman Lecture series on Science & Society at 7 p.m. at Newbold Auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, on the topic, "Intelligent Designs: Engineering Materials for Real-World Applications." Pernites received his education across three countries, the United States, Singapore and the Philippines, providing him with a global perspective and extensive experience collaborating with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. He earned a PhD in chemistry, with a minor in chemical biology, from the University of Houston-Texas. The week's activities will kick off on *Sabbath, October 17 from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm workshop entitled, "Purpose to Profession: Turning Your God-given Gifts into Meaningful Work", hosted by Dr. Maya Byfield, tenured professor of biology and principal investigator of the National Science Foundation's S-STEM LEAPS and BOUNDS Scholarship program at Seminole State College of Florida. The workshop will take place in the Newbold Auditorium. Participants will learn discover their spiritual gifts and learn how to use them. This workshop is open to all students and community members. Date: Monday, Oct. 19, 2026 Time: 6:30 p.m. Location: Council Chamber, Griggs Hall-B, Andrews University 8903 US Highway 31, Berrien Springs, Michigan In this book, Kuryliak examines Revelation through four interpretive approaches: preterism, idealism, historicism and futurism. Drawing on biblical exegesis and ancient Christian reception history, he argues that historicism’s integration of past, present and future offers a framework for understanding Revelation’s prophetic imagery. The evening will offer an opportunity to meet the author, hear about the research behind the book and celebrate its publication. The program will include a welcome and introduction, author presentation, moderated conversation, audience Q&A and closing remarks. A book signing and reception will follow. Bohdan Kuryliak is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zurich and an associate professor of New Testament at the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences. A special offer on the print edition will be available, and every attendee will receive a free PDF copy of the book.
