During the Lake Union’s “Unbreakable” Pathfinder Camporee, held Sept. 24 to 27 at the Berrien County Youth Fairgrounds, leaders announced Whitehead’s retirement after more than four decades of ministry devoted largely to children, youth and young adults.  ... Whitehead has served Lake Union youth ministries since 1996. When he began the five-year Architecture Program, his motivations were considerably more practical. “I was doing architecture more for the money at first,” Djordjevic admits. For him, this ordination service was a way to celebrate every important person and moment that has contributed to his journey and the way God used them. ... His loving and service-oriented church community, as well as his parents, were also major influences. “Most Korean Americans go through the pressure of having to find a job that gives you a lot of money and stability, usually pre-med, pre-vet, or law,” said Chung. His father never pressured him to go these routes, telling Chung that the most important thing in life was to serve God. He graduated from Pacific Union College with a bachelor’s in theology and completed seminary training at Andrews University.  <<< Read the full story at the Pacific Union Conference <a href="https://www.adventistfaith.com/news/joy-community-and-blessing/">site</a> >>> Thu, 24 Sep 2026 19:41:26 +0000 Senior Research Professor Featured in Documentary http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/70354 Visitors to Indiana Academy’s 2025 camp meeting in the United States walked through Messiah’s Mansion, a life-size replica of the biblical sanctuary, while learning how its furnishings and services pointed to God’s plan of salvation. Indiana pastor and filmmaker Christian Smith recognized an opportunity to preserve that experience and make it available to a wider audience. With support from the Indiana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Smith produced a documentary featuring Richard Davidson, an Andrews University scholar known for his study of the biblical sanctuary. The nearly hourlong film follows Davidson through the replica as he explains the sanctuary’s meaning in biblical times, its application to personal faith and its connection to Christ’s ministry in heaven.  ... Davidson is a senior research professor of Old Testament interpretation at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University and has written and taught extensively about the sanctuary. Messiah’s Mansion is a life-size replica of the Mosaic sanctuary that God gave instructions to Moses to build in the wilderness. Still, it’s always good to pause and take stock of our intentions. Why are we trying to improve?</div> <div>  </div> <div> One thing is clear: the way forward is not found in insisting on doing things our own way or loving ourselves to the point where we’re centered on selfish ambitions. Life isn’t about us. It’s about pleasing the God who gave us life and patterning our life after His.</div> I was reminded of this truth while reading the stories in this issue focused on Andrews University and hope it will give you pause in examining how you have committed your own life to Christ. Yates tells us she got a surprise phone call from a University instructor telling her that Thursday, Sept. 10 ,was the eighth annual Change Day, when students head out across Southwest Michigan to make a difference. So, she invited them to come and help out at the water distribution center and at one of the township fire stations. “They got many of the fire hydrants painted, so they look a lot nicer,” Yates said. “They have cleared up the debris at the Enterprise Way fire station and got that looking all clean and nice. It was wonderful. The attitudes were good. They were ready to get started, and I’m just truly grateful. LMC Assistant Admissions Director Elaina Paulson tells us there will be representatives of more than 50 colleges and universities from all over Michigan and Indiana on hand to share information about their institutions and help students apply. College Night can help a prospective college student decide where they want to enroll. ... College Night is set for Sept. 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the LMC Mendel Center.
