PLANT SERVICE - Student Worker

Position summary

Assit with repairs, and installs power on H.V.A.C. and Refrigeration equipment in campus housing and university buildings by performing the following duties.

Maintains, inspects and installs all heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, fans, vacuum pumps, air compressors, vents, ducts, and pneumatic and DDC control systems on the university campus.

 

Qualifications summary

Must have current valid driver license. Must be  able to wok at least two consecutive hours at a time if not more. Speak fluent English

Duties and responsibilities

Changing filters and belts as needed. Greasing pumps. Maintain air compressors as needed. Clean HVAC equiptment, Assit HVAC technician as needed.

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as load,  amperage and work , interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in limited standardized situations

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
